The Holstein Bench Rugeri Cello is made in our select VSA award-winning workshop by a single master luthier. Modeled after the work of Francesco Rugeri, this instrument is crafted using high quality aged tone woods and finished with a beautifully antiqued oil varnish.
Francesco Rugeri was the head of a prominent family of luthiers in 17th-century Cremona, Italy. A master craftsman, he produced instruments regarded as among the finest examples of Cremonese violin making. Rugeri is also credited with designing a smaller-sized cello, a model that would go on to become the standard for most modern cellos.
